5 file modify per session

So I have this (seemingly really simply) program that is bundled into one little .exe file that can rename files for you based on databases.
The limitation is that if you haven't supplied the graces of your financial blessings, the program limits you to 5 files at a time renaming with a ten second cool down.
What is the first step in opening this thing up and modifying some code?
Anyone have any ideas?
