The other day I came across a website that had something to do with boat engineering. It wasn't pretty or informative. It looked like any old brochure website.

For whatever reason (boredom) I just did a quick look in /images to see if the webserver allowed directory indexing. As usual, it did. Inside the /images directory was another directory - "psds".

Now, a PSD is typically a photoshop file, so I thought nothing of it - figuring it was the original artwork that was sliced up and used to make the existing website. No big deal. When I moved into /images/psds/ I came across a very disturbing photogallery. Some pervert/dumbass stuck a child porn website within this existing website.

After gagging I reported the site both to the webmaster and to cybertipline. I haven't gone back to the site as I didn't bookmark it. I have no interest in any of that shit residing in my cache or any bit in memory.

All I can say is WTF! Look, I'm all for an open, unrestricted internet, but there is a line that shouldn't be crossed. I mean..again.. WTF !? Is there possibly another approach that wouldn't involve big brother snooping into every upload I make?

Honestly, if facial recognition technology was sophisticated enough to determine a rough estimate of age and nudity, it'd be well worth writing a web crawler to catch these things more quickly. I just can't think of any other way to find this shit and get rid of it.

Ideas?
