Biography: 

Eric Steven Raymond was born on December 4, 1957 in Boston, Massachusetts. He is an Open source software advocate and programmer, and maintainer of "The New Hackers Dictionary" or formerly known as the Jargon File. In 1998 he published the "Halloween documents" that were leaked from Microsoft. He also authored "The Cathedral and the Bazaar" (1997) and the book "The Art of Unix Programming" (2003).

Facts

After the 1997 publication of The Cathedral and the Bazaar, Raymond was for a number of years frequently quoted as an unofficial spokesman for the open source movement.
