Vulnerability Database

Don't really know where to put this or even if anyone wants it but got this email today about vulnerability in Cisco firewall and McAfee console. I linked it just in case anyone is interested. Also, if I should put it in another spot just let me know.

packet analysis

Hey all.

I have no doubt that everyone is familiar with wireshark. Any particular log analyzers that are favorites?
Most are fairly high dollar products with not too many differences in my experience, but I'm seeking again.
Looking at visualether right now and am not sold.

Grassy-ass for any comments!!

Question about wiping utilities

Does anyone use wiping utilities for Windows? If so, are you convinced a single wipe with zeroes is sufficient in making files unrecoverable or do you use a multi-pass method (e.g. DOD/Gutmann)?

obsolescence of old viri...

I have a second computer with 4GB RAM, running Win7, with 160GB HDD, dual-core Intel processor, and absolutely NO anti-virus features.. I've been using it to test out several old versions of viri - and discovered many of these old viri revisions (certain koobface releases, rogue A/V malware, etc.) just have no effect on the new and more powerful operating systems. My question to you who dabble in virus creation: How do you keep your viri from becoming obsolete in the future? Which precautions do you take to keep your virus from being ineffective as soon as the next service pack hits?

Just a few questions from a curious FoRM.

What Antivirus, Firewall and AntiSpyware are you using?

I'm using Kaspersky Internet Security and SuperAntiSpyware.
I'm also using Nokia IP120.

Dell & Keyloggers

I just read this earlier today. Has anyone else heard of this? It wouldn't surprise me; but do you think it's BS, or something I should worry about before buying a laptop?

Myspace Major Security Theory

So,
Everyone knows how myspace and facebook and other social networking websites have those surveys? Well most of those are blatant questions such as "favorite color", "Favorite food", "Your first dogs name", etc etc. But isn't it also true that almost all password resets will ask you for these "Identity Confirmation" Questions?

Seems to me like people can just read those surveys and BAM access to alot of restricted stuff!
