Hey all. I'm new to SoldierX, but from what I've seen so far everyone seems to be pretty knowledgeable and helpful. I've had some questions about IT industry certifications that I haven't gotten many constructive answers from elsewhere. I currently posses an Associate's of Arts in Information Technology, and am finishing up a Bachelor's of Science in Information Technology - Information Systems Security. I'm just about to take the exam for the CompTIA A+ certification, and was looking for advice about where to go from there.
I've heard varying reports that certifications aren't all that necessary, but have decided to pursue them anyway. Are there any IT vets here that can offer insight as to what is the best next step? I'm considering Security+ and Network+, but the Microsoft Certified IT Professional and Cisco Certified Network Associate exams are on my radar as well.
If anyone can offer any advice it would be much appreciated.
