What would you say if we pointed you in the direction of free stuff that could help stop your computer from dying on its arse? You’d say ‘thank you Bitterwallet’ wouldn’t you? Go on then, say it before you move on to the next paragraph.

There – that didn’t hurt did it? Right now for the free stuff that could help stop your computer from dying on its arse. AVG, developers of the world’s most popular free anti-virus software have ramped up their offering with the launch of the free AVG Rescue CD.

It is able to help recover knacked computers that cannot be rebooted or are infected beyond regular operation and can be downloaded directly from AVG’s site. Just burn it to a CD or pop it on a memory stick and if your computer becomes snarled up beyond belief, with a bit of luck, you’ll be back in business in no time.

AVG put on a hat marked ‘Technical’ before blurbing: “Upon booting a damaged computer using the AVG Rescue CD, the software will automatically mount all hard drives of the computer and scan them for viruses and malware. The Rescue CD will also automatically restore a safe network connection to the computer. For advanced users, the AVG Rescue CD also includes a Windows Registry editor, a TestDisk utility for recovering deleted files and lost partitions, a file browser for navigating folders, and a Ping tool for basic network diagnostics.”

So there you go – free stuff that could help stop your computer from dying on its arse. Bet you’re glad you thanked us earlier.

What are your thoughts on this?
