I'm considering making a Linux media server. Basically I want to throw tons of media (i.e. Movies, TV Show, etc) onto multiple storage drives.

My plan is to make it very easy to consume this media from anywhere on my LAN. I think if I can get everything to run smoothly this would be a

worthwhile investment, but at the same time I don't want to pass on any other cool opportunities. I guess what I am asking is, what else could

I do with a Linux server with tons of storage space? I know there are multiple options out there, but I want to here anyone's personal

experiences with similar projects, and how they have made them worthwhile. Thanks all.
