Pushing slanderous Google search results to back of search

Ok, so I was asked this morning the following:
My client has a school where a slanderous google search from 2 1/2 years ago is popping up in the first page of google search results. My client's lawyer mentioned that there is an way to push the results further back, so not as many people will view the slanderous page, but I am not aware of how to do this.
I was asked not to name the school openly, but I was given permission to post wherever I wanted for advice. Anyone have an idea of what they should to get the slanderous page off the first 20 or 30 of google search results?
The school is located in the USA.
