So i was reading one of Nullbytes responses where he mentioned his VPN/proxy setup and that got me to thinking. Does anyone have some VPN's proxy's, or VPS providers they can recommend? I currently have a few virtual private servers scattered across the internet and in countries with few laws in regards to the internet. However I am very interested to see what the rest of you use.

Well, I have been working for a long bit of time on my companies web site security. So I have at this point gone ahead made a backup of the site and secured every hole I can find.
But it comes to my knowledge other people might be able to find something I overlooked.
So heres the deal. I will let you guys have free reign to attack my site.
BUT in order to determine what is you guys and what is a legit attack I will need to know what IP address you intend to attack from so as I monitor the attacks I can tell what is a legitimate test attack and what might be an actual attack on the site.

But I hope in for you guys that it will just be fun.

I have been noticing more and more everyday that there seems to be the beginning of a huge problem with our culture. It seems that the newer hacker culture does not understand that it is not just about running tools through single click, or through a string of text in a terminal. I am seeing it more and more that they are getting lazier and just want things handed to them on a silver platter. They do not understand even the power of google! They use the automated tools that have been created over the years, not understanding how they work. What has happened to the real hacker and it's culture? What happened to every hacker having to create his/her own tools? Something needs to be done about this. I know that there are a few of you on here that know exactly what I am talking about, and understand the culture that I am referring to. I also know that there are a couple of the newer hackers that are here regularly that are trying to make an effort to actually learn what it is all about.

I'm playing around with the protostar VM from exploit-excercises.com, and I'm running into some weird behavior that I just don't understand in the least. Apologies in advance, i'm not sure how to copy/paste straight from vmware yet so i've just got screencaps for now. Also, i'm not used to this board, so i'm sure i'm fucking something else up there.

For various stack excercises, they build you up by simply having you overwrite a function pointer or return pointer to the value of some other function. That's pretty easy to figure out, so I thought i'd try my hand at executing shellcode from the stack as well. However, things aren't as easy as i'd thought.

My shellcode works when I test it out in its own C program, as expected:

Hey all.....

Can someone tell me where is the best place to start, books to read, or some tutorials to read about pishing, i would like to learn the most i could about that subject, since I'am new in this kind of stuff i really don't know where to start.

Ok everyone, so i've been thinking about writing some tutorials. What kind of stuff do you guys want to see that's not already here, or that you think you might need a bit more understanding of?
