Other networks besides the internet

Hello all I am interested in getting to know better some of the other networks that are available now days besides the network we know as the "internet". I was wondering if someone could list the available networks out there so that I can do some research on them and get started on using them. I have looked into x25 networks and that is a start but what other networks are there? Thx for your time
