Nu11By73 has published a new tutorial on Null Byte Poisoning located at https://www.soldierx.com/tutorials/Null-Byte-Poisoning. I urge anybody that is interested in learning about this technique to check it out. We're still having a few issues with some of our private servers, but we're hoping to have these resolved within the next few weeks. We're also planning to release our phone home decompiler within the next week.

It is with great honor that I would like to announce the High Council's decision to promote Nu11By73 to the status of full crew member of SOLDIERX, effective immediately. During the past months, Nu11By73 has worked very hard to update the tools section of the site. In his spare time, he has also contributed HDB entries and tutorials (speaking of which, he has a new one at https://www.soldierx.com/tutorials/Pass-Hash-Fpipe-and-Msfmap). This means that that Tools Curator position has now been filled scryptz0 has also been hard at work on the HDB, and has been promoted to Inductee for the HDB Curator position. We hope that scryptz0 keeps up the good work and becomes a full crew member of SOLDIERX like Nu11By73 has done. Please take a moment and congratulate both of these hardworking individuals.

Nu11By73 has added a new tutorial to our site, entitled Enumerating User Accounts Through Null Sessions. It's a short and simple tutorial which requires a *nix based operating system and the tool rpcclient. If you're not familiar with the technique, I suggest taking a look at it. Our updates are going slower than we anticipated, but we are hard at work now that summer is here. The VIP server will be back up once we are able to get in contact with Alien51 and arrange shipping. He has not been responding to emails for a few months now. More updates to come.

We haven't had a news post in quite awhile as we've all been working hard on some new releases. We hope to have some of these hit the servers around the middle of May. In other news, Nu11By73 has been upgraded to inductee status for his hard work on overhauling the tools section of our site. If you haven't seen his additions, I suggest you check them out

Congratulations everybody, our community is now at over 7,000 active user accounts. Technically speaking we just had our 8,436 sign up - but around 1,400 of those were determined to be inactive/spammers and have had their accounts removed. We actively prune accounts that spam as well as accounts that never log into the site. I can't wait to see our active user list grow to over 9,000 - but 7,000 is a decent accomplishment for now. Thanks to everybody who has been active in our community and to everybody that has helped to spread the word about soldierx.com.

I'm very proud to announce libhijack 0.6 today. Version 0.6 contains no new features. However, I have ported libhijack to FreeBSD/amd64. I do not plan to support 32bit on FreeBSD. However, if someone wants to add 32bit support, I will gladly accept patches. When I first started this project a few months ago, I thought that FreeBSD's runtime linker (aka RTLD, the executable that loads your program into memory) would have been implemented similar to GNU's runtime linker. It turns out I was very wrong. FreeBSD's RTLD is much different--and, in my opinion, better--than GNU's.

Every single API call works fully on FreeBSD. No API function signatures have been changed. Meaning, the same exact calls you would make on Linux would be the same exact calls on FreeBSD. This is no easy feat on a project like libhijack. Please note that since we're still not a 1.0 release, the API is still subject to change.

Once again, we are looking for a curator for our Hacker Database (HDB). Last opening - Alien51, georGEO, and jip all applied. We found that jip would be better suited working towards the group in exploit development. Alien51 and georGEO failed to meet the requirements for the position. If you do not have time to dedicate to this position, please don't apply. The duties include making sure all of the information in the HDB is up to date as well as creating new entries as information becomes available. While SOLDIERX currently has the largest HDB on the internet (rumored to only be rivaled by the FBI's hacker database), our HDB has not been updated enough lately.

The top 5 contestants (in order of votes) are Nu11By73, Sunnycat, DDR-MMPR, Alien51, and lucidentity. I have contacted them so that they can decide on one submission which will be voted on by the SX High Council. Results should be out some time this week.
