Defcon 16 Results
12 August, 2008 - 09:23 — RaTIt looks like Defcon 16 went really well. Blake, devDelay, and bitemytaco gave the speech on modified cable modems without the help of Durandal. Due to his lack of participation, he is now removed from the position of Vice President. His current position is just a regular member who helps with recruiting since his main activity seems to be talking to people. Origin is now our current VP (which was agreed on by the current members in case Durandal didn't make the speech). We still sponsored the speech and sent out free SOLDIERX swag for the people who attended.
Lack of Spirit
24 July, 2008 - 12:19 — RaTSome people have told me that they feel the HDB is pointless. The whole idea behind the HDB is to tell the stories of the past for those who don't know them. Many people don't realize where the hacking/underground/whatever-you-want-to-call-it community has come from, and I feel that it's important to know the roots. Just like a good math teacher will tell you about the history of mathematics, it seems that people should know the history of computer hackers. I feel many people have a lack of spirit as described in http://phrack.com/issues.html?issue=64&id=4#article
Game Server
22 July, 2008 - 17:59 — OriginI had a talk with RaT about hosting a game server, and depending on the game and what resources it takes up he would be glad to host. So I would like to hear everyone's opinion on what games we should try. It can be a FPS, MMORPG, or Strategy game, etc. So please start posting information about what games your interested in. After we come up with a few key games we'll do a final vote.
Defcon and Other News
15 July, 2008 - 09:19 — RaTDefcon is quickly approaching - we hope to see many of you out there. Durandal may or may not be speaking at the event. He last reported that he had a fishing trip that was more important than his speech. In preparation for this, bitemytaco from http://www.sbhacker.net has agreed to help present the speech. He's one of the co-owners of that site and is very knowledgeable in the field of cable modem hacking. In the case the Durandal does not show up for his part of the speech, he will be stepping down from the position of Vice President immediately after Defcon.
Transition to New Server Complete
21 June, 2008 - 18:37 — RaTOur site is now completely on the new server (formerly test.soldierx.com) as you may have noticed. We removed the main page that had the large SX logo because we now feel the site is working well enough to put it as the main page. Amp has been kicking ass on the HDB, Origin has been working on the engine for the new theme, and I have been working through archives and future content. The books section ( http://www.soldierx.com/books/ ) is temporarily offline due to the switching of servers. This content is being uploaded to the current server as I type this.
