Shooting Shark or Shark is a UNIX hacker and phreaker who was the editor of Phrack Magazine for two issues. His handle originated from title of the 3rd song on "Revolution By Night,"which many consider to be Blue Oyster Cult's last good album.

He wrote about six articles for Phrack and then one for the 2nd LOD Technical Journal, which featured a brute-force password hacker.

Auernheimer claimed responsibility for the disruption to Amazon's services in April 2009 when many books on gay issues were reclassified as pornography. Hoewever, Amazon claimed that Auernheimer was not responsible for the incident.
