In 2009, a then 21-year-old Australian named Ashley Towns stayed up late one night downloading iOS app development programs, and unwittingly created the first known iPhone worm. The virus automatically set a photo of singer Rick Astley’s face as your mobile wallpaper, possibly the ultimate "Rickroll." Towns was quickly hired by mogeneration, an iPhone app developer based in Sydney, Australia.

Chris Putnam and his friends created created an XSS-based worm on Facebook and modified infected pages to look just like MySpace profiles. In 2006 Putnam, then 19 years old, received a Facebook note from co-founder Dustin Moskovitz that read something like this (in Putnam’s own words): "Hey, this was funny but it looks like you are deleting contact information from users' profiles when you go to replicate the worm again. That's not so cool."

Michael "Mikeyy" Mooney is the creator of of StalkDaily.com who coded a Twitter worm that sent tweets from hundreds of accounts, mostly with links to a spam website or Mooney’s phone number. Twitter co-founder Biz Stone likened Mooney’s worm to the Samy worm that hit MySpace in 2005 and vowed to press charges.

In an interview with ABC News, Mooney said he received several job offers after the attack.

Deto Beiber is one of the members of the AnonGhost Team who has been observed conducting defacements using his own handle.

Man Sykez is one of the members of the AnonGhost Team who is at least knowledgeable with SQLi, PHP, and Symlink.

Ag3nt47 was the guy who hacked the Spanish website of SEIKO, a high-end Japanese watch company and then leaked names, email addresses, mailing addresses and phone numbers of hundreds of customer via Pastebin and Anonpaste. He is also known for breaching Peugeot Canada and Honda Belarus, as well as the Suzuki and Mazda Russia websites, a NASA site, and Albany International Airport.

Hex00010 is an ousted member of TeamP0isoN who is known for scamming people by selling unconfirmed and fake 0day exploits like Scada & OsCommerence.

Guccifer is best known for hacking into the personal email of the head of National Intelligence Council. He has also carried out a string of high profile hacks against prominent targets including the Bush family, a Google board member, the former Chief of Staff to President Ronald Reagan, the director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation, and members of the Council on Foreign Relations. Guccifer was eventually jailed in January 2014 in his home country of Romania for hacking the email addresses of public officials for his country, and extradited to the United States on federal charges.

Reckz0r is branded as a fake hacker for his self-proclaimed hacks which were not real against Xbox Live, a possibly illegitimate claimed SQLi vulnerability in Twitter, and possibly a fake breach of CNN International. The owner of CyberWarNews said “For some time now many have known that reckz0r has played with false data before.”
