Sn4ggl3 re-read the tutorials and decided that EverestX really put some effort behind his tutorials. He also felt that the hacking nature of the tutorials was supportive of one of the main points of SOLDIERX - gaining access to information. Because of this, Sn4ggl3 has awarded EverestX all of his points (total of 15). I have also reconsidered my decision and given EverestX my remaining 3 points. We are happy to announce that all of the votes have been tallied. We have publicly posted the results so that everybody can see how the choices were made. Thank you to everybody who participated. Kayin took first place, COSCstudent took second, and somehow cisc0ninja has taken third. Due to a high council member not being allowed to win in the tutorial contest, cisc0ninja will have to choose somebody to have his shirt sent to. A 2010 tutorial contest is in the works, but we are trying to figure out a way to get more entries and more technical entries than the past two years. We were contacted by Mike of Decafme.org to let people know that DECAF has been taken down via a DMCA notice from Microsoft. We are making this post to raise awareness for the ridiculous attempt by Microsoft to break their constitutional rights as well as the cowardice of godaddy.com to give into such a ridiculous request so quickly and easily. Microsoft is claiming it's a copyright violation based on them identifying COFEE in their DECAF program. Decafme.org is currently talking with an organization for legal help in this matter. We wish them the best of luck.

While many various news outlets have mentioned SOLDIERX from time to time for various reasons, we are particularly fond of HNN because of its history. Our holiday releases are finally over after neotek posted his release. The tutorial contest ended on 01-01-2010 and the high council is currently voting on the various submitted tutorials. I am actually very disappointed in the turn out of the tutorial contest, I guess that a hacked modem/free admission to Defcon 18 weren't considered very good prizes to most of our members. There were actually some good forum topics that could have qualified as tutorials (such as MRI from USB), but none of those members ever submitted them to me via email as a tutorial.

We hope that everybody had a good xmas. As part two of our holiday releases, we have an Agent Steal bug fix release for the public and a password stealing version for VIP members. Hopefully our public release addresses all of the bugs discovered in the initial release. We also look forward to getting feedback from our VIP members on the new features in the Agent Steal pre-release.

Happy holidays everybody! As part one of our holiday releases, we have hacked and re-enabled the popular DECAF tool that was mentioned in our previous news post. We were in full support of the application until we learned that it phoned home and that it could be remotely disabled by the authors. Unfortunately they decided to disable it a few days ago on account of Jesus. The original message can be viewed here. We have hacked it so that it no longer phones home and it no longer can be disabled.

decafme.org have released software they say sabotages a suite of forensics utilities Microsoft provides for free to hundreds of law enforcement agencies across the globe.

DECAF (Detect and Eliminate Computer Assisted Forensics) is a light-weight application that monitors Windows systems for the presence of COFEE, a bundle of some 150 point-and-click tools used by police to collect digital evidence at crime scenes. When a USB stick containing the Microsoft software is attached to a protected PC, Decaf automatically executes a variety of countermeasures. Additional information is available on The Register

Our FED monitors blew up today with messages that somebody from 128.190.125.2, also known as the USAISC (United States Army Information Systems Command). After they got access denied messages when trying to access the pages they wanted, they created an account. I'm not going to reveal their account on here (it will be disclosed to VIP), but they know who I am talking about. They pulled up some data on Durandal, rainbow tables, and Kevin Mitnick. Keep in mind that if you are accessing this site from a government computer, we are watching you.
